The adventure begins before you even arrive. Just off the coast of Vancouver, you make your way to Bowen Island by ferry crossing through picturesque Howe Sound, arriving in the charming village of Snug Cove.
By bus
From downtown Vancouver, take either the 250 Horseshoe Bay (approx. 60 minutes) or 257 Horseshoe Bay Express (approx. 35 minutes) bus, both routes terminate at the Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal.
By car
From downtown Vancouver, go West on Georgia Street through Stanley Park and cross the Lions Gate Bridge. Follow the signs for Highway 1 West and take Exit #3 to Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. The estimated driving time from downtown Vancouver is 25 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
Ferry information
The ferry to Bowen Island departs Horseshoe Bay almost hourly with a schedule break in the early afternoon. The crossing is a leisurely 20-minute ride, just enough time to enjoy the view. Be on the lookout for whales, dolphins, and seals.
Getting around Bowen Island
Once you have arrived, you can relax, you’re on island time now. There are many ways to make your way around the island.
By foot
Bowen Island is foot-friendly as most shops and services are within walking distance of the ferry dock. As well, Bowen has an established hitchhiking network called Bowen LIFT. Simply put out your thumb at the designated LIFT stops around the island and a friendly local will give you a ride.
By scooter
Whether you need a scooter for a few hours or a few days, Zoom Zoom Bowen can accommodate your needs. Their Yamaha Vino 49cc scooters will allow you to explore every nook and cranny of the island. Rentals are available from May 1 to October 1.
By taxi
